Exotics New Client and Patient Forms

If you are requesting an appointment for your exotic pet that is showing any of the following emergent symptoms, promptly seek emergency veterinary care. Note, Maritime Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Centre is currently under construction and not currently open for care.

Examples of emergency symptoms that require prompt care:

  • Prolonged anorexia (more than 12 hours for rabbits and rodents, more than 24 hours for birds)

  • Respiratory distress

  • Bloated abdomen

  • Straining to urinate, defecate, or pass an egg

  • Active bleeding or blood loss

  • Seizures

  • Trauma

  • Toxin exposure

  • Persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or bloody droppings

  • Lethargy or weakness

  • Unresponsive or inappropriate mental state

  • Prolapsed tissues
