Amanda
Amanda graduated in 2012 from the NS Agricultural College. She has always had a passion for caring for animals, which grew largely from her experience as an equestrian. Amanda started riding lessons when she was 8 years old and horses have been a huge part of her life ever since. Her horse, Roxy, lives in Truro with her now. She turns 30 years old this year!
After graduating, Amanda worked in general practice but quickly developed a passion for emergency medicine. Amanda started working casually at a local ER about a year out of school and knew that’s where she wanted to be. Although living rural made the logistics difficult for a full-time position in emergency medicine, Amanda was able to gain a lot of experience over the years in general practice and doing on-call emergencies. In 2021, Amanda took a full-time position in emergency medicine and is excited about this new chapter with MVESC. Amanda has a special interest in metabolic disorders and nursing care for critical care patients. She is also RECOVER rescuer certified.
Amanda lives in Truro with her husband Chris, senior Pitbull Sadie, and mischievous cat Mr. Larry J. Scarf. Outside of work, she enjoys training and competing in Olympic Weightlifting.
