With extensive training in companion animal cardiology, Dr. Orr specializes in managing complex cardiac cases, offering advanced cardiac diagnostics and evidence-based treatment options in a collaborative, supportive environment. He is one of four veterinary cardiologists that are located in Atlantic Canada. Dr. Orr is a 2004 graduate from the Atlantic Veterinary College at University of PEI. He completed his one-year rotating small animal internship at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2005 and practiced in both general small animal practice and emergency medicine in the Toronto area from 2005-2007.

Dr. Orr completed a 3-year cardiology residency at the University of Guelph in 2010 and became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) that same year. As part of his residency, he completed a graduate program (DVSc) where he researched a common form of heart disease in Boxer, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).

After completing his residency, Dr. Orr practiced at busy multi-specialty veterinary referral hospitals in both the Chicago area in Illinois as well as Denver Colorado before returning home to Atlantic Canada in 2019 to start a mobile veterinary cardiology practice, East Coast Veterinary Cardiology. He has been practicing at a specialty hospital in Halifax since 2024 and is excited to join Maritime Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Centre to provide comprehensive veterinary cardiac care to dogs & cats in Nova Scotia!
