Meet Dr. Shannon Murphy, our Lead Emergency Veterinarian and Partner! Born and raised in Cape Breton, Dr. Murphy developed a strong bond with her family dogs and cats from an early age. She knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian and pursued her dream by completing her pre-veterinary studies at the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus before attending the Atlantic Veterinary College. In 2005, Dr. Murphy graduated with her DVM and received the Schering-Plough award for excellence in small animal medicine.

Dr. Murphy spent a year in general small animal practice and a year in feline practice before discovering her true passion: emergency medicine. She has since practiced emergency medicine in Dartmouth for 16 years and has become a highly respected expert in the field.

Outside of work, Dr. Murphy enjoys Irish dance, downhill skiing, travelling, and spending time with her family and friends. Her family consists of her husband Ryan, daughter Cait, Himalayan cat Pearl, Tibetan Spaniel Poppy, and guinea pigs Jelly Bean and Pikachu.

With her passion for emergency medicine and dedication to providing the best possible care for her patients, Dr. Shannon Murphy is a valuable asset to our team at the veterinary clinic.
