Janis Fisher

Meet Dr. Janis Fisher, keeping pets active and mobile has always been a passion of hers. After graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1997, she was soon drawn toward a more holistic approach to medicine and wanted to find more natural ways to keep pets comfortable and moving. This led her to become certified in Veterinary Acupuncture, which she now incorporates into her practice as a way to alleviate pain and promote healing.

When she started competing in Agility with her NS duck tolling retriever cross Lexie, she discovered how strong the bond is between an agility competitor and their K9 teammate. Injury prevention is so important as if the K9 partner is injured, no one gets to compete in the sport they love! This led Dr. Fisher to become a certified Canine Rehabilitation therapist and later Certified in Animal Chiropractic.

Now, Dr. Fisher spends her days keeping sporting dogs in tip-top shape, helping paralyzed dogs walk again, and ensuring the four-legged members of the family can still go on all the family walks. When our pets are active, we tend to be more active, so she loves that she helps to keep the whole family in shape!

Dr. Fisher lives with her wife Seanagh, daughter Liv, and their three cats Zephyn, Friend, and Flynn. As well as Dr. Fisher’s retired agility partner Quick, a 14-year-old Australian Kelpie who has been her dream dog. She also has a 7-year-old Jack Russel cross named Wow! She got her name because Dr. Fisher kept saying “Wow, I can’t believe I am considering getting a Jack Russel" Dr. Fisher's dedication to animal care and her passion for incorporating holistic approaches make her an exceptional veterinarian who is highly respected by her colleagues and beloved by her patients and their families.
